3GP to MP3 Converter
Shiver’s 3GP to MP3 Converter Plus freeware can convert large 3GP files into MP3s without reducing quality. Many cell phones save recorded video and audio in 3GP container files, and not just phones on 3G networks; many on 2G networks do, too. While plenty of media players (such as VLC) can play 3GP files, a lot of people prefer to convert their recorded audio to MP3s for maximum versatility, as it’s much easier to share MP3s and use them with other programs.
This program’s appearance is plain; it’s hard to imagine a more down-to-business user interface than 3GP to MP3 Converter Plus possesses. The compact rectangle layout has two entry fields, each with a Browse button, though only the field labeled “3GP to convert” is active; the Save As field stays gray until needed. A Status panel displays the progress of both the Convert and To processes; beyond that, there’s just a Convert button.
Many newer phones (like ours) save audio and video in different formats, such as 3GA or MP3, but we had some 3GP files in our archives. Using 3GP to MP3 Converter Plus couldn’t be simpler. We browsed to our file and selected it, then selected an output destination and pressed Convert. The program converted our file in what seemed like no time. We opened the destination folder and then opened our converted file with our usual media player. It played normally, so, mission accomplished. There’s no Help file for 3GP to MP3 Converter Plus, nor is one needed; this simple freeware has one purpose, to convert 3GP files to MP3 files, and you either need it or you don’t. If you do need to convert your 3GP files to MP3s, try 3GP to MP3 Converter Plus.
