This program seems like a good deal, but the trial makes you buy a pig in a poke. Unlike most Voice-over-IP programs, Net2Phone CommCenter doesn’t even let you make calls to other online users without paying. After an error message told us we didn’t have enough funds, it said to allow one to two business days for the billing department to verify the funds. The interface combines the look of a pay phone and the functions of an instant messenger. On the positive side, most of the calling plans offer a great 2.9-cent rate and free incoming calls, or you can get a toll-free number that costs 7 cents a minute. Harsh restrictions keep us from recommending Net2Phone CommCenter.

Net2Phone CommCenter lets you place calls and send faxes over the Internet from your PC to a PC, a regular telephone, or a fax machine. Call any phone within the U.S. for as low as 2 cents a minute. PC-to-PC calls are always free. International calls are as low as 3.9 cents a minute. Fax for as little as 10 cents per page. Simply download the free software, register, and then add calling time to your account.
The latest version of Net2Phone CommCenter is advertisement free. We’ve listened to user feedback and have removed ads from CommCenter. The application features the same low rates, the same great features, just no more ads.
